Hands, Feet, and Thinking Skills! (Ctrl-click links)
- Sort pom poms by color in a muffin tin
- Thread Cheerios on toothpicks stuck in play dough
- Stretch rubber bands around a can of food
- Criss-cross tape on a table and peel it off one piece at a time
- Tape six lines of tape on the floor to jump over forward, backwards, sideways, etc
- Practice spotting the word in books or magazines (could do letters, letter sounds, or whatever other stage of reading your child is at)
- Hand the kids tongs to pickup their blocks, or other small toys
- Sort buttons into cups
- Stack up plastic cups as high as you can go.
- Wash small toys in a small tub of water and soap
- Hand your kids a bag and describe random objects for them to search for.
- Get out the dominoes for them to line up, matching the dots. Make it into a road too!
- Match the Tupperware lids to their containers
- Count objects on playing cards
- Crab walk and carry their toys to their rooms to put away
- Poke pipe cleaners through a colander
- Get out a cardboard box and markers and let them create whatever they want
Work on pencil strokes and tracing lines
- use an easel if you have one, or a vertical surface
- remember use "pincher fingers"
- encourage your child to continue to use the hand they started with to promote a dominant hand
LETTER MATCH
YOU’LL NEED:
-Quart size plastic bag
-Black permanent marker
-Black paper (I used construction paper)
-Popsicle sticks
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Use the marker to write the alphabet in uppercase letters spread all over the bag.
2. Cut the black paper to fit inside the bag.
3. Write 1 letter on each popsicle stick. Uppercase on one side and lowercase on the other.
4. Insert a popsicle stick inside the bag and match it to a letter on the bag.
